As practitioners, we often find ourselves accompanying clients who are dealing with old traumas in their life. This doesn’t have to be the focus of the process, but we still cannot ignore it when it presents itself. Our clients always tell us their story, either expressing it verbally or showing it through their bodies.
As somatic practitioners, we listen and are often touched by what we hear. We then have to choose what to focus on and create the best relationship with our clients to support their process. Because we work in a profession that involves touch and verbal communication, we are able to find ways to let our clients find clarity, by getting connected to their own body and accessing their own strengths.
Clients learn to connect the dots and unify their experiences of their life so far. We work on how they can learn not to push certain memories away, and in doing so, find ways to experience themselves as a whole, with clarity and heart. We teach our clients to let go, to digest, to transform, and to realize that so often they are stronger than they imagine themselves to be.
In this course you will learn to:
- Create clarity around the term ‘trauma’
- Use your empathic abilities to connect to your clients, without being overwhelmed
- Create a safe and respectful setting for your clients
- Improve your listening and communication skills around the topic of trauma
- Create a balance between following a client’s lead and leading the process yourselves
- Communicate verbally and non-verbally with your clients
“Hands that touch, hearts that connect, people that listen – these elements are already a wonderful beginning. I invite you to explore this field with me where, along with our techniques and knowledge, our heart and natural empathy will be called upon.”. Vered Manasse
