As practitioners, we often find ourselves accompanying clients who are dealing with old traumas in their life. This doesn’t have to be the focus of the process, but we still cannot ignore it when it presents itself. Our clients always tell us their story, either verbally and clearly, or in a passive way, through their body language and the difficulties they have faced in their life.
We as practitioners, listen and are so often touched by what we hear. Choosing what to focus on and learning how to create the best relationship that will support such processes, is part of our challenge. As we work in a profession that involves touch and verbal communication, we are able to find ways to let our clients find clarity, by getting connected to their own body and accessing their own strength.
Our job is to support our clients in transforming whatever happened to them into a positive force, by recognizing their uniqueness and building their confidence. We focus on how we can connect the dots and unify the experiences of their life so far. We work on how they can learn to not push certain parts of their life away and in doing so, find ways to experience themselves as a whole, with clarity and heart. We explore our somatic approach together with our clients and allow them to let go, to digest, to transform and to realize, that so often they are stronger than they might imagine themselves to be.
In this course we will:
- Create clarity around the term ‘trauma’
- Learn how to use our empathic abilities to connect to our clients, without being overwhelmed by the connection
- Explore ways we can create a safe and respectful setting for our clients to be able to learn, change and transform within
- Improve our listening and communication skills where discussion around trauma is concerned
- Train to create balance between following a client’s lead and leading the process ourselves
- Explore communication with our clients both verbal and non-verbal
- Notice how our values can help us find answers to questions we might have
- See demonstrations and train ourselves in giving and receiving sessions
“Hands that touch, hearts that connect, people that listen – these elements are already a wonderful beginning. I invite you to explore this field with me where, along with our techniques and knowledge, our heart and natural empathy will be called upon.”. Vered Manasse
