One of the skills we constantly practice in our profession, is the ability to combine touch and words. Touch in that sense represents the experience, the sensations, the way it feels. Words on the other hand represent understanding, clarity, vision and the ability to lead our life in the direction we choose.
When our clients can connect between their experience and their clarity, learning and change takes place. The power of our minds to change whatever it is that we need is huge – when we add to that a clear experience, our clients can feel their own strength, complexity, uniqueness, and individuality.
Often we, as practitioners, find the challenge comes in combining the two. We look for ways to say the right words at the right moment, or to know when to allow silence when it’s needed. Our words in sessions become another dimension of touch and experience, that allow the hearts of people to be touched, the stories from their past to be told, and their wishes for the future to be expressed.
Communication is not only talking though; a big part of healthy communication is our ability to listen. We ask questions, we guide and develop a topic and often our communication with our client is being developed over time. Clear communication is a major part of any session and process we have with our clients and combining it with touch is a significant part of our profession.
In this course we will:
- Become clear on the different aspects of conversations with our clients
- Notice how to express in words what we feel and sense
- Learn to combine touch with suitable verbal communication
- Realize how to listen as the basis of any communication
- Go beyond the familiar with our words
- Deepen our understanding around the way words touch people
- Teach our clients to communicate as partners in the process
- Relate to the ethics of communicating with our clients
